Question: Abbreviations on a Resume

Question One:

Is there a standard on using abbreviated month names.  Does it matter?  I have seen both used even here on the forums.

Question Two: 

Can I abbreviate company names as follows:

General Electric (GE) the first time, and then every other time just GE.

Suggestion

Question One:
Yes I'd say that was ok, as long as you are consistent and are sending your CV to someone whose main language is the same as yours. By being consistent I mean using the same type of abbreviation each time. For example don't use "Jul12" sometimes and "July'12" or even "Jul'12" others.

Question Two:
Yes that's ok too in my opinion, as you are explaining what the abbreviation means the first time. I have done the same on my CV referring to Hewlett Packard (HP).
