I read this book over the weekend and have a mixed review.

First the negative:

The writing style was "humorous" as the title implied. Maybe I wasn't in that great of a mood this weekend, but I didn't find it that amusing. Of course, I was trying to read it in bits, scanning for the parts that interested me and skipping other parts.

This probably detracted from my enjoyment of that aspect.

However, on to the positive:

Much of the advice in this book was very direct. It talked about one on ones, feedback, coaching and many other topics that are relevant in this forum.

The advice was directed towards an engineering manager. I appreciated many of suggestions for interacting with an engineering team. But the advice around one on ones, communication, etc was appropriate for a non engineering manager as well.

I'd like to hear other folks opinion on this book.
