This guidance discusses how and when to delegate to the floor.
We tell Manager Tools managers to delegate as much as they can to their directs so that they can do the things that only THEY can do. We tell them to keep delegating until they're down to individual contributors, and then we tell them to allow the ICs to delegate to the floor. When we're explaining how this works, we ask managers to give their ICs aircover for the things that don't get done.
You don't have to have a Manager Tools manager to get the benefits of delegating to the floor. You just need to be smart about what you do and don't delegate.
