Hello!
My name is Eric Waller and I am very glad I found this site and you people.
I work for a super-major oil and gas producer, and currently live in New Mexico, USA.
I am not a manager in the traditional sense, but I am learning. I don't necessarily want to be a manager, I want to be a great leader. There is a difference in my book.
I have been in the industry for 17 years, literally from the ground up. My first oilfield job involved a jackhammer. I currently manage a small portion of our well work activities as well as the day to day operations of one rig. Sort of like working the cash register, but all the cashiers report to you. It's an odd position to be in at times, but it is a rewarding and challenging job.
I am attending Walden University to earn my BSBA/management degree and should graduate mid Summer if all goes well.
I consider myself a lifelong student of leadership, and I know I need good management tools to be a good leader.
I hope to stay and continue to learn and to add value when I can.
Keep up the good work!

Eric-

Welcome to Manager Tools. We're glad you're here, even if you don't want - necessarily - to be a manager. I think you'll find that being a leader will at times require you to be a manager... so this stuff will be good to know.

If I'm not mistaken, you posted about the juggling balls question on the blog, and while I disagreed with some of what you wrote, I think I ended by saying that I'd work with you. I don't say that lightly - I can work with whom I choose.

It's a privilege to serve someone so interested in growth. We look forward to hearing from you as we all stumble along, learning about management, with a little leadership thrown in.

Mark
