Apparently, I'm not allowed to read a PM until I've read everything else. If I come home and have all these pretty orange notifications of new messages on various forums and go to my message box, when I get back all the pretty orange notifications are gone!

I have a related problem. With all the recent activity on the forum, there is a lot to read and absorb which is difficult in one sitting.

You lose the "pretty orange notifications" as soon as you log out!

Folks-

I've stopped using the orange markers, but I still can't help but wonder if this is a tech glitch. I've asked Mike to look into it, as in,

Mike the operations genius, would you do that magic stuff you do and see what's up with this?

I'll look into the PM issue ... sounds like a problem to me as well.

As far as arun's problem, I don't think there is much I can do about the problem ... Unfortunately, it's working as designed. The pretty orange flags mean "unread since last logged out". Having said that, I'll definitely take a look into the possibilities here as well.

Julia,

I've tried to recreate your issue and have been unable to do so ... could you describe in a bit more detail the sequence of events you are experiencing?

thanks!

Mike

I've logged in and have unread forum messages and a new message. If I read the PM, when I return to the forum (clicking the Index link at the top) the markers are gone.

I gave up on the pretty orange notifications weeks ago, now I just use the rss feeds (I use attensa for outlook) to keep informed of new posts.

Thanks, Edmund. I need to, but haven't gotten around to yet, set up an RSS/newsfeed. Somehow the new job and moving has sidetracked me.

Hi Edmund,

That's sounds like a really useful idea. Can you talk me through it slowly?

Thanks,

Wendi

Hi Wendi,
I'll try but I'm not a tech type person. I came across Attensa at the start of the year and have been using it ever since. It's an rss feed that works inside Microsoft Outlook and displays your blog subscriptions and anything that has rss right into neatly organized Outlook folders just the same way as your mail is organised, it has a cascading style that shows your news or forum messages in an email message like format. It also has a little toolbar added in Internet Explorer so you can easily and quickly add rss news feeds and subscriptions from other websites and blogs. It also automatically adds the MT podcast files into iTunes.

So once you set it up you just click on your chosen folder, in this case Manager Tools and you get to read the full post, you can if you want then click the headline and it will take you directly to the MT Forum or Blog site.

I don’t know what more I can say other then its great, its user friendly and you can get it to work the way you want it and it's free.
It's not a big download, and it is quick and easy to install and configure.

This link will take you to the Attensa site and give you a tour and you can download it. http://www.attensa.com/products/outlook/tour/

Hope this helps
Edmund
