Hi

Do you know if there is a French version of "The effective manager" from Drucker and what would be the title ? I can't find it, but the French translator have the poor habit of "reinventing tiltes !".

If everyone agrees it is a great book, I will buy it, even in English.

Many thanks !

There are French translations, of course, though I do not know if they are easily found/in print. And just to be clear, Drucker's book is the Effective Executive...not Manager.

Thank you mark, sorry for that.

I believe the French translation is titled "La pratique de la direction d'entreprise"
As Mark suggested, it might be hard to find, given that the latest edition I found was dated 1975.

Thanks.

I also found : "Drucker Peter F. (1977), L’efficacité, objectif numéro 1 des cadres, Editions d’Organisation [traduit de The effective executive]."

I now have to find it !

The most effective bookstore for finding "hard to finds" is Powell's, in Portland, Oregon, and at Powells.com. They are brilliant.

The Dutch translation, however, is called "De effectieve manager"...

Halleluya ! I found it on the web at a Belgium's book store. I'll get it within 12 days (those Belgium are so nice !).

So it is called : "l'efficacité, objectif numéro 1 des cadres" which means : "Effectiveness is the number one target of executice" ... No the best title ever invented indead ! I hope the translation will be okay.

Wow, the translation is good.

This French version has been issued one month before I was born (May 1968 !) ! And it really looks like an old book ...

But what shocks me the most is that all the "today" great ideas about business were already in this book, like :
- time management principles
- delegation principles
- focus on your core missions : better to cut to much than not enough
- company should focus on a clear strategy
- good management in about re-reinforcing strengths, not improving weaknesses ...

And I'm only halfway

Great old book.
