Hey MTrs,

I've been reading back through "How to win friends and influence people" and came across the chapter about how the sound of a person's name to him or her is like gold.

Some are naturals but I imagine that most of you have problems remembering other's names, as do I. That being the case, do any of you have any success stories, tips or trips for improving your memory of peoples names? Is it as simple as repetition during the first few minutes of your conversation, or keeping a file of facts about people you meet?

Thanks,

Glynn Newby

You already picked the two I use most. I usually run into the most problems when I meet several people at one event, like a conference or a new client meeting.

At an event like a conference, you'll usually get a ton of business cards. Jot the name down if you carry a small notepad.

Also, if you forget someone's name at a conference, don't be afraid to say, "I'm sorry, I forgot your name".
