Can you guys bump up the avatar upload limit higher than the current 6K? What are we in, 1994? :-)

Seriously, though, it takes a large amount of image manipulation to get a file under 6K. Can you bump it up to 300K or something more aligned with the times?

Thanks!

connick.

connick,

I'd agree it is not 1994 -- and I'd know, I was on the web then ;-) . However, remember, not everyone has broadband ... take just a few 300k avatars on a page and pretty soon non-broadband users have a problem.

Seems like the vast majority of folks have been able to get reasonable avatars (pictures of them, for example) within the 6k limit. As much as I'd like to make it easy on you and everyone else, I don't think increasing the limit will make a significant difference to many and WILL cause an issue for a number of folks.

Sorry I couldn't help more ... and I don't necessarily expect everyone here to agree with me! :-)

best regards,
Mike

And yes, I can hear the groans now ... how can podcast listeners NOT have a broadband connection? Well, I do know that some of our participants here on the forum DON'T listen to the podcasts :-( AND I can tell by the log that some users here, and even some who DO download the podcast, are using dial-up.

I do and appreciate it! I admin a hardware forum, and we don't allow avatars (or in-line images) at all for the very same reasons. We get lots of complaints about it, but, mysteriously, our membership continues to grow.
