I lost one of the MT podcasts from within iTunes and instead of searching for it I deleted it thinking I could simply update the feed and it would locate the deleted podcast and redownload it.
Obviously it didnt hence this post.

Does anyone know if iTunes can be made to redownload a single podcast from within a feed?

I think you can just download the cast into your pc or mac, then drag it over into iTunes.

It's something like 'Shift-Right Click' on the small arrow to the left of the Podcast title. This reloads all the deleted casts in the feed. I can't remember off the top of my head and don't have iTunes on this machine. It has been asked and answered previously in these forums.

You're right it has been asked and answered, thanks for that and the prompt to use the "search" function.

That I have done and this I have read: (anyone recognise the quote :) )
If you are using iTunes the the solution is easy if a bit un-obvious.

1: click on the triangle next to the name of the Podcast to "close" or "collapse" the list. You should now only see the name of the Feed.

2: Hold down the Shift key and click on the triangle again. This will "open" or "expand" the list. It will also cause iTunes to redownload and display all the items currently in the RSS Feed.

I wish iTunes was better about holding on to podcasts when you have some of your feeds set to "allow auto delete" and others set to "do not allow auto delete".

Has anyone tried another Podcast client for archival purposes, or found a way to get iTunes to better archive podcasts?
Next question - anybody know how to make the members-only podcast show up in 'podcasts' on the iPod, like the 'regular' MT podcast does? I looked at the settings for the two feeds in iTunes and couldn't see any differences . . . any suggestions?

Go the web page for Member-only podcasts (http://www.manager-tools.com/category/members/), and click on the iTunes icon about 1/2 way down the page on the left-hand side.

Thanks for the post, but I can see I should have been more specific.

I have the RSS feed added to iTunes, but the 'casts themselves don't show up on my iPod as 'podcasts'. Instead, I have to navigate to them by looking up 'Mike Auzenne & Mark Horstman' under 'artists'. They also don't have the nifty dot indicator to show me what I've listened to and what I haven't.

So - those are the issues I'm trying to resolve.

Hi Ron

One thing you can check:

When I add a new podcast, I have to synch the pod. While the pod is hooked up, I have to go into the iPod's podcast preferences (not the regular iTune preferences). Once in the podcast section, I have to add the new podcast to my list of what I want synched. Then it shows up with the nifty dots :)
