Although the site is relatively new, it has grabbed the attention of many industry leaders and PM associations. Providing a space highly targeted to project management professionals has drawn the interest of employers and recruiters.

By leveraging our member base, our intent is to work to bring our members various industry discounts, provide learning opportunities, sponsorship of programs and events, scholarship funds, etc. With the help and support of people like you, together we will be able to create a great space for PM's. I would like to formally invite you to join and make connections with our members from across the globe, learn, share, grow and prosper in this virtual PM community. Any member of our community has the privilege and ability to author content within the site guidelines. We also have a global network of International Correspondents to provide more timely and varied project management-related news and information from around the world. International Correspondents are experienced PM professionals and, in some cases, former leaders of recognized PM professional associations.

Joining a board like this to instantly push your own barrow is bad manners - cross posting it is further bad form.

People might indeed be interested but there are other ways of informing them.

You seem to me like a person and not a spambot so you could try getting involved in the community and demonstrating some of your PM knowledge by posting some answers or insight before leaping into something like this.

Hi,

I know Shawn Futterer from the PMLC - he is very passionate about project management and I believe was simply looking to share another PM related resource with the wonderful community at Manager-Tools. I for one welcome learning about other resources out there that are free and great sources of Information.

Project Management is one of the best fields i want to learn that's why I joined this forum. I believed that in any industry, you can apply PM in such a way that you think will be effective. Thanks for inviting us though. Might try it sometime.

but still forums are also used by some to promote their stuff and i see nothing wrong about that since it is related and his business is credible

erikko, it's still wrong. I'm an internet geek going WAY back. It's abusing someone else's hard work to build a community. The proper way to do it is to participate in the community for a while (a LONG while) and then mention something. It shows that your interest isn't in getting free advertising. It's spam no matter how good someone's intentions are.

You've only posted 15 times - keep it up, and I'm sure a special request can be made.

I seem to recall there's been a discussion about this before and the feeling was that it's one thing to answer a question with something along the lines of "Oh my company can help you with that. If you're interested drop me a PM." or to include a link in your signature block to your website. It is, however, a quite different thing to appear suddenly on the forums saying "Hey, come buy my product!!!!"

Mark and Mike are the final arbiters on this, they will decide one way or the other and we will have the choice of living with their decision or leaving. I hope that I never have to feel like doing the latter.

Wow. I hope we don't have to go down that path again.

Folks, if you have an issue with someone's behavior on the forums, please just send me a note/PM. Typically, I have the conversation and resolve *offline*.

Occasionally there's abuse, but often they are simple *mistakes*. Please, let's be gracious.

Mike
