Is there a "to do" list when trying to network internally after you find out that layoffs are imminent? Looks like it's coming my way.

Before someone says it, I do a great job of networking PRIOR to layoffs coming around the bend - just looking to see if there are any recommendations during this specific time period.

Have you listened to the networking cast, and the "managing during mergers and acquisitions" casts?

Yes, and they have been extremely helpful. That said, one of the places that I am struggling is the communication with my personal network. It may be slightly premature to start asking people to dig around on my behalf (as I am not 100% certain of my circumstances, good or bad) but once it is time, what is the best way to communicate the fact that I am looking for some help?

You might be surprised. I have a very good friend where *every* company he has served in his 20+ year career has been acquired...except for his present company.

I am certain he would encourage you to reach out to your network and "stay frosty."

Stay in touch. Explain your current situation. Don't ask for a job, but let them know that you are open to opportunities.
