Hello everyone from the Los Angeles general area;
I would love to start up a round table of like-minded MT-ers who can meet together once a month or so to brainstorm and have round tables. IF anyone is interested in this (or even in something less formal like meeting for coffee or something) please let me know either by email to my username or replying to this thread.

I'm game. I'm in the South Bay area.
Who else is in LA?

Currently we have three people total...

I will give it some more time before tossing out a where/when email. Who knows, if the group gets large enough maybe we could be blessed with a visit from the MT gurus themselves!

I am here as well. 4 people is a group. Let's set a date and location to meet up. Nothing fancy, maybe a Starbucks central to all of us.
I work in Cerritos, live in Orange County. Any suggestions.

Also, what do we want to discuss?
Let's plan to meet up May 21st. That is exactly 3 weeks from today.
What is needed is everyone's city where they work and where they live. Also, prefered meeting times (lunch, after work, etc). Then once we line up a location we can start to brainstorm topics.
Cerritos (605 and 91 frwy) - Work
Tustin (5 and 55 frwy) - live
Prefer after work meeting.

Great, I can make it that evening although I want to ensure that everyone else can make it (seeing as traffic can be tough).
I am in the South Bay and I get off work around 5:00 pm. It looks like most of us are in south bay but we can try to find a place closer to Orange County if you would like.
If south bay is convenient we can find a place to meet. Let's make this happen!

I am flexible on location (and dates as well - except for Tuesdays). I don't want to exclude you right off the bat!!
Los Angeles Round Table Group
Unfortunately, I'm not available Tuesdays or Wednesdays due to childcare conflicts - sorry.
Work - El Segundo
Live - Torrance (near the 405, 110 and the 91 - so that give's me a lot of flexibility in where we meet)
Mon/Th/Fri - I'm available and I get off of work fairly early - I'm usually back in the South Bay by 4:30.

Sounds like Thursday is shaping up to be the best evening. Does that work for at least 3 of us?

Apologies everyone, my access during the day is very limited for emails.
Thursdays is perfect for me. As for places to meet, I can only think of places in South Bay so I am a little bit useless for finding places. It sounds like somewhere near Cerritos or Torrance may be the best for locations.
As for locations my choice would be either the Torrance Library or a Denny's in Gardena somewhere (or Coco's or whatever, I chose Gardena because it sounds like the most central). Just some ideas.

As far as Starbucks go -
There is one a few blocks south of the 91 and west of the 605 on Woodruff in Lakewood. I picked a co-worker up from there one morning - its about 9 miles east of the 405.
Near the Torrance side of things, there is a SB at Carson and Western that is pretty easy to get to from the freeway, but if we were going to do that, we might as well go somewhere good in Old Torrance, like the Red Car Brewery.
Sorry, I'm not much help east of the 405, myself.

Hmm..Red Car Brewery.
I heard of it but have never been there. I am game.
How about everyone else? Is this reasnable for everyone else?
Los Angeles Round Table Group
Hello everyone;
There have been no postings since my last one (and I have not had time during the week to reply) so I propose that we meet on Thursday, May 22nd at 6 pm at the Red Car Brewery in Old Torrance. I am not able to find it in Gogle Maps so if anyone knows where it is please provide a link to a map or directions for everyone.
Please reply to this list if the time and place is acceptable to you, and if the place is not acceptable please feel free to recommend a more convenient place. I want to avoid trying to satisfy a large group of people with divergent needs but I will try to facilitate if there is too much inconvenience in the group as a whole.
Los Angeles Round Table Group
I'm there.
The Red Car is at 1266 Sartori Ave, Torrance. If you are on the 405, take the Western exit and go south. Right on Torrance Blvd, left on Sartori and its about a half block down - the first restaurant on the left.
From 110, go west on Carson Ave, take a right on Cabrillo Ave, left on Sartori Ave.
310-782-0222 is the Brewery's number if you need more direction.
See you at 6p. It isn't usually that crowded during the week, but if we end up having more than 4 or 5, I'll call ahead.

Great. I will be there as well. Can't wait to meet you guys.
Brad
P.S. how are we going to identify ourselves once there?
Los Angeles Round Table Group
Is there a way to tell the people up front that we are the Manager-Tools group?
If not (or if something else is easier) I will let everyone know what I will be wearing that night so that we can better spot each other. That or a big sign that says manager tools (like the guys at the airport).
On a separate note, what do we want to discuss? Or do we just want to spend time on our first meeting just to get to know everyone?
Los Angeles Round Table Group
I say let's spend the evening gettng to know everyone. Maybe an overarching theme can be management areas we struggle in. Then from there we can set up a more defined discussion.
Brad
p.s. do we need and/or have reservations?
Los Angeles Round Table Group
I regret that I will not be able to drive up from San Diego. I have a previously scheduled event that evening.
I hope you all have a great meeting.

I'll call ahead the day of in case they get busy. I'll go a bit early also and let the hostess or bartender (or whoever) know that people will be showing up for the meeting so they can point you in the right direction. Its a pretty small place, so I don't think it will be a problem.
