Hello,
I'm looking for book recommendations targeted at senior company leaders who want to build and execute a business building effort.

For example, you come into a new company and with a general direction, and a team, you're tasked with developing the strategy (plus strategic priorities and what to say "no" to), then executing that strategy with your team. It would be helpful if it included problem identification, project management, etc. Basically, "How to get a big thing done."

Thanks!
Cory

Hi Cory

Your question is pretty broad so any generic book on strategy would make sense, e.g. those used for MBA courses.

However, I think I can point you to 3 books:

  • "Winning" by Jack Welch is both practical/actionable and covers anything you mention (ISBN-10: 0060753943)
  • "Execution" by Ram Charan and Larry Bossidy also covers strategy and execution a great deal (ISBN-10: 1847940684)
  • "The 4 Disciplines of Execution" by Sean Covey, Chris McChesney, and Jim Huling focus on making strategy executable (ISBN-10: 0857205838)

Cheers,

Lars
