Hi all,
I'm a massive fan of the manager tools interview series and credit it with getting me through all interviews I've had since I bought it (8 years ago) - however the series is ideal for competency based questions I'm now with an employer who has switched to "strength based" questions e.g. "When are you at your best?" "what do you never get to on your to do list?"
Does anyone have tips? Could this be another cast????
Thanks all!
John

I'm not sure that I understand the question.

...what's the difference between competency and strength? If I have a great amount of competency in something...then isn't that a strength? Can't I still use my examples from my 'general store' to answer 'when am I at my best?'

What do you never get to on your to do list sounds kind of like answering a "weakness" question. There's a cast for that here:

Hope that helps!

Thanks - no they are a little different - the idea is it is hard to prepare for them as they focus on what you like (or don't like) rather than what you have done

...it still seems very much like a behavioral interview where you ought deliver an answer from your list of accomplishments.
