I recently attended a get together for a peer that is retiring. As the stories flowed around the room, one of the older gentlemen, stood up to speak and everyone got very quiet. He said "You've always been willing more than you've been required to do. You took on things that weren't popular or sexy. Yet you took them on because they needed to be done. Thank you. Thank you for caring and thank you for stepping up. Thank you for leading".
I want people to say that about me when I retire...don't you?
What a way to be remembered
I like the way going the extra mile and doing what needs to be done is recognized as leadership.
Agree
Now that is exactly what I want to be remembered for.
Thanks for sharing.
