An employee who has always done a remarkable job is applying to a few business schools, beginning with Columbia and U. of Chicago.  He asked me to write his recommendation letters and I want to give him the best possible shot. Does any one have any suggestions for me?

Thanks,
Jason

The book "How to Get Into the Top MBA Programs" (I have the 4th edition) had a really good description of what an effective recommendation looks like (areas to make sure you cover, how to quantify the recommended person's awesomeness) and an example of a great (though probably too long) recommendation letter. If your employee doesn't already have a copy of the book to loan you, you may want to buy it - or buy a copy for him.
