In a recent interview I asked a behavioral question about conflict and the candidate was unable to answer the question.  Instead he said something like, "umm .. [pause] .. ummm ... I don't really have conflicts.  I can't think of any examples."  The odd part: the candidate was an internal candidate who I know well - and I know the candidate had multiple experiences which could have been used to answer the question.  Having seen him work, he is actually fairly good at managing conflict - not great, but good.

How do I interpret this answer from this candidate?
