Hi,

Good day!

My name's Jaspreet, and I'm currently working with a BPO named Convergys as a Team Leader (Ops) for the past 8 months. I have a keen interest in fields involving application/implementation of Quality/Process Improvement/Six Sigma etc.
I'm good with MS Excel, Powerpoint, etc, and fairly good at analytics, logic, coding, etc. I have a technical bent of mind, so am very attracted to gadgets, new technologies, technical programs, etc.
But now, after 4 years of total work ex, carrying a fair enough experience/skill set with functions of Quality and Operations in a BPO, I'm kind of soul searching again for which path to follow, and what to look up to next as my next step in my career development.. in my path of life..!

So, here's my story spilled out.
Please let me know if you have any inputs to improve my current situation or any suggestion to gain more clarity ahead..!

Thanks and regards,
Jas.
Team Manager. :)

Thanks for the tip Hugh, and I'm sure it's something as simple as this that makes one realize well about the right choice further..
I've already thought over this in my mind.. but it's not just what I Loved doing, it's what all I could do as well.. the kind of people I was with.. the level and kind of environment I was in.

Hope I'll be able to see clearer as time passes by..

Thanks again,

J.

Hi Jasprett

Have you listened to the podcasts on mentors? My feeling is that you should be asking some smart people close to you for some guidance. Listen to the podcasts on mentors.

I was stuck in the same place not too long ago, and it REALLY hurt my job hunting.

I was stuck on the idea that I would be content anywhere that gave me new challenges and the opportunity to work with smart people. I found myself applying ALL OVER THE PLACE, just peppering the local employers with applications for anything I was qualified for, skill-wise.

I'm pretty sure my lack of focus showed through in my cover letters and resume, because I didn't get a single call back.

I then sat down and looked at the day-to-day work I enjoyed and the work that made me frustrated and miserable. I also took some personality tests (not DISC -- my wife's a psychologist, so I have access to some pretty deep evaluations) and spent some time thinking about what that said about me.

Once I zeroed in on the 2 tracks I felt were good places to take my career, I really nailed down my resume, cover letter, and accomplishments. Plus I'm applying WELL at a few places rather than poorly at tons of places.

Nik - that's a GREAT yardstick to set for considering the job search. Well said!
