Here's a feel good story I wanted to share.
My wife had an opening for an outside (B2B) sales person. She eventually narrowed the field to a couple of candidates that were pretty much equal across the board.
She wanted to spend a couple of days thinking it over and planned on deciding this weekend.
Yesterday, one of the two final candidates dropped by her office to drop off a thank you card. When my wife got back to the office and saw it she was puzzled to find a card with small socks attached to them. She opened the card and it read, "Thank you for your time with me.... Hire me and I'll knock your socks off."
As Mark says, you don't have to be twice as good as the next candidate. Just be a little better... sometimes that's all it takes.
