Hi all,

I've been having an issue lately where some of the directs of my directs have been showing resentment to some new hires. We brought on some staff earlier this year and they have been performing very well, showing initiative and stepping up to learn to do some of our tougher tasks. They even step up to learn and be exposed to new experiences when there is no clear financial benefit to doing so. Because of this they have now become more skilled and have been given the opportunity to do more overtime work which has financial reward.

In spite of the fact that all the staff were afforded the same opportunities, some of our lower performing, older staff members are now resentful of the opportunities the new hires have gotten. the older staff members have asked for a staff meeting and I think that this will be one of the primary issues raised.

How far should i let this discussion go in the meeting? Should I just give the older staff members feedback individually on why the new hires are given more opportunities or just discuss it with everyone in the meeting?
