I'm looking over the effective delegation guidance (from an early EMC) and trying to reconcile it with this week's how to assign work tasks cast.

Is delegating the same as assigning work tasks?

If not, when do we use each tool?

If so, is the latest cast a refinement of earlier materials?  (Specifically, the elimination of the statement of the the need -- "I need your help on something")

Thanks,

Steve

p.s.  On a side note, I've been doing this for a few years now and it's worked pretty well.  I recently noticed that I need to improve my attention to detail when I delegate.  Also, sometimes I need to encourage my directs to up their performance in this area.  sk

I think we provide a chart in part two for the difference between delegating and assigning tasks.

Mark,

The cast was published earlier today.  I'll check it out.

I value your team's work.  Doing what I can to pay it forward.
