The Interview Series podcasts outlines how and when to follow-up after an interview. However, it seems like these follow-ups are geared to a final interview. What are your recommendations on how and when to follow-up after the initial submission of resume and letter and also after a first on site interview when you know they will doing a second round?

How do I follow up on feedback from the HR contact that they're still thinking about hiring me (after an interview about 10 days ago) and may want me to come back for an interview with some others (of the same group) who know more about one of the topic areas that came up during my interview? I'm a general management consultant with specialization in quality management, change management, and project/program management, and am much more capable than just the area they may want to explore further. How do I follow up on that to "set the hook," so to speak?

Follow up is good for after every interview. Just a quick note saying that you'd like to talk further; AND not to frequently!

I hate to go off topic, but this concept on follow up has done wonders for my dating life! I told her to pay special attention to my follow ups.
