I thought it was about time I wrote a little introduction as I've been posting more frequently instead of lurking in the background as usual.
I've run my own business, managed 3 retail outlets with 20 staff, and have somehow ended up working in ICT for UK local government! I love my job most of the time and am looking to move up the management chain in IT service management (to make better use of my customer facing skills learned whilst working in retail).
I tend to be quite proactive and always looking for ways to improve the way we work and have a keen interest in personal development (after all noone else is going to do it for me).
I love Manager Tools because it is a helpful community and the podcasts contain great practical advice, sometimes about things you wouldn't consider - most of which is relevant even though the UK culture is different. I'm currently taking a management course (for the CV) but I can honestly say that what I've learned on Manager Tools has been far more valuable.
