Two books that I would strongly recommend for those thinking about leadership, or being in a (or about to be a) leadership position the works of Ron Heifetz from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Here is some background on Ron

Here is a virtual tour of his most recent book “Leadership on the Line”
http://www.ksg.harvard.edu/virtualbooktour/heifetz02.htm
and a link to both the above and his earlier work “Leadership without easy answers”.

Both books focus on leaders helping “followers” to adapt to new realities, as you will have experienced having the “technical” answer is not enough to move issues forward.

Very practical advice to help those trying to lead in fending off and protecting you and your ideas from becoming the targets for those who want simple answers.

Enjoy.
