I'm teaching a class on business communications this semester and am trying to remember something Mark said in a podcast. It went SOMETHING like, "you can say 1 thing to a hundred people 50 times and 2 people will say they heard it once." But I know that's not exactly right.....anyone have a clue?????
Thanks in advance!!!!
It was essentially
It was essentially this:
You need to repeat something 7 times for people to hear it. If you tell a group of 10 only 2 will say they were told. Repetition is the key to retention.
Seven and a half....
I remember it as "If you say something seven times, half of the people will say they heard it".
Mark repeated this recently in the routine town hall cast.
Here's the quote
Copied from the description of the Town Hall podcast: And, we've mentioned many times Horstman's Law of Organizational Communications: Say something 7 times and half of your people will say they've heard it once.
