I had an interview yesterday and it went great, they called me 2 hours after I interviewed(approx. 5 mins after I emailed the thank you letters) to have a second interview tomorrow with the V.P. and Director, both held separately and to last about 30 mins each. I am so nervous, I really dont know what to expect since it will not be a group interview so maybe the VP and director are just meeting with me to see if they like me and not ask me the same formal questions?? Does anyone have any advice?? I am so nervous I need and want this job..

Don't let them see you sweat! Make sure they know you have options and that you are in demand.

It's OK to be nervous, just don't appear desperate.

Why don't you list to the "Interviewing--> The Weakness Question" and "Accomplishments - Connecting Resumes and Interviews" podcasts tonight... I don't know if you subscribe to the interviewing series or not. If you do, I'm sure there's some other stuff there.

Then, get a nice glass of wine and/or some hot tea and go to bed early tonight so you're feeling refreshed tomorrow.

Good Luck!!

Congratulations! You're that much closer to getting an offer! 30 minutes isn't a lot of time, so your first impressions ("the first five minutes") are going to be that much more important.

But here's one thing you have going for you: you passed the initial screening interview, and you should let that be a confidence-booster for you. You're qualified for the job, and you're an attractive candidate - otherwise, they wouldn't be bringing you back in.

So think about your first impressions (if you've subcribed to the interview series, it's #6) - think about entering the room, shaking the hand, and engaging in small talk with great confidence and a big smile...

Here's one additional idea: Be prepared to spend a minute or two talking about the first interview, and give a specific, behavioral example about how your experience makes you a match, given what you learned in the first interview....

Good luck! Keep us posted.

They are meeting to see if they like you. It is an interview.

Radiate confidence and energy: you can do this job. Describe to them how you've done it the past with specific examples.

Good luck!

I'll echo the "Hey, this is good news, they're interested" comments. They wouldn't ask you back if you were off the list.

Take your nervousness and channel it into energy. Mark often repeats that he'll take 10% qualifications for 90% more energy. He also says you can't have too much energy, but some time I'll have to post about the guy I know who had too much energy.

Review your "tell me about yourself" and "give me an example of a significant accomplishment" answers, just to have it down.

Close. Closing is even more important with the senior people.

Smile! (no kidding)

After, write these two paper thank-you notes. They'll notice. (Write paper notes for the first round, too, as soon as you can.)

Then let us know what happened!
