Here is an "easy" question for you: What are examples of skills and personal qualities?

I am applying for a job in an administration and one field to fill in is just called "skills and personal qualities". In general terms, I believe that skill means something you are good at doing and personal qualitiy would rather relate to character.

So if I put two examples of both skills and personal qualities, it would look like this:

SKILLS:

1. Expert knowledge on X.     2. Communication skills

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

1. intellectual capacity    2. Hard working.

Are those good examples? I am asking, because each entry could be much more detailled. In other words, I could have chosen a subset (e.g. instead of "communication skills", I could say "social media pro" etc.).

So should one chose a general skill ("communication") or a more specific one?

Thank you for any views on the matter!

I personally wouldn't consider knowledge to be a skill.  Knowledge is knowledge.  Typing 80 WPM is a skill.  It's the difference between memorizing every play in the playbook and being able to execute those plays on the field.

That said...

Get as specific as you can where it relates to the job you're applying for.  If the specific thing relates to the position it's definitely going to be more beneficial to list it as that instead of something general that could mean less.

I always want to see evidence for those claims.

I can tell you I have a great understanding of particle physics.

However, can I apply that "understanding"?  Uh, not so much!  :)

So, if you said "Hard working as demonstrated by......  or "able to work collaboratively in a team as demonstrated by....."  it will carry more weight.
