I engaged Tom Peters on twitter about giving feedback to leaders that "tease" and he had this to say and added more about feedback in general. I wonder what Mark (and you all) think(s)!
@tom_peters:
You are a lively soul, and I salute you. But as a boss, be careful when you tease someone who works for you. BE VERY CAREFUL.
@livlab:
Any suggestions on how to help someone who doesn't take this advice and is therefore not am effective or respected manager?
@tom_peters:
Instant feedback. Constant counseling.
@livlab:
I can appreciate that approach; would you suggest that for levels above me or peers?
@tom_peters:
Depends on how gentle your touch is. Giving feedback is not for amateurs.

Then his other tweets about feedback:
@tom_peters: Is there any more difficult task than giving effective feedback? If there is, I can't imagine what it would be. source
@tom_peters: If you think giving feedback is easy or "straightforward," then you are hyper-shitty at giving feedback. source
