I am working to change the culture within our orginization in terms of what Performance Management is. Right now if you were to ask an employee or even manager this question, the response you would get is somewhere along the lines of discipline. Because of this anytime you bring up the phrase Performance Management you can see the fear in everyone's eyes. I have listened to many of the Podcasts around feedback and coaching but is there one that describes what Performance Management should look like in an orginization?
Also would be interested in hearing from those of you that want to share what your orginization has done relative to this process.
For the record, I see Performance Management as an ongoing process of providing feedback and coaching aimed at maximizing performance and employee development. No where in my definition does it reference discipline. To me that is a totally different topic.
