So my wife broke into management, yay!
Background on her team: Her new team didn't know the company was looking for a manager. It's a team of 4 with 1 being an assistant manager. The assistant manager was supposed to step up to the manager role but it wasn't working out hence why my wife was hired. The team was told of the leadership change today and the assistant manager quit immediately without notice. My wife starts in a week. She is concerned with the remaining staff that might have allegiance for the former assistant manager. What should she do?
My answer is to start one on ones immediately, ask open ended questions, and fit in.
