I started listening to the podcasts in 2009 when my team was a single group of 9 engineers. By the time the team size grew to need a sub-management structure, I already had the leaders identified and their first assignment was to attend a Manager Tools training conference. The new managers hit the ground running and the transition was seamless. Today we send non-management senior team members to Manager Tools conferences to proactively groom the next generation of managers, make them better direct reports, and build resiliency in our structure. In addition every new employee (including veteran engineers) must go through the New Employee podcasts. There's no doubt that we have been successful in a time of extraordinary change in our company because we manage well, manage and behave consistently across groups, and deliver on our commitments without burning out our employees - thanks to Manager Tools.
