Hi all,

Firstly love the pod casts and I regularly avoid the radio in the car and listen to the pod casts instead.  Great work.

I listened to this pod cast a few times and I am still struggling with the concept of not talking about it.  I understand keep delivering etc and not to fall away....

When you are establishing yourself in a new role and there is a lack of leadership and direction it is hard to keep motivated.  Whilst I am happy to drive initiatives, feedback and direction is a big part support any team members....

Who can you talk to about it.........how long do you stick to methods decribed in the pod cast???

Thanks in advance.

What do you talk about?  Rather than talking about "a lack of leadership and direction" you should be talking about direction.  Does your company have a strategy?  (if you're public, it'll be in the 10K; if private, it's likely on the intranet).  Your activities should align with the strategy.  You can set up time to discuss with your boss, as in "here's how I think we are contributing/can contribute to the strategy"

Are there objectives for your group?  (Revenue targets? Market share?)   It's hard to imagine that they don't have targets for revenue costs....otherwise, how can they manage cash flow or payroll?

If you talk, talk about achieving those goals.  Ask for them if you can't find them, in the sense of wanting to be focused on meeting the goals (not as in complaining about a lack of direction).

(FWIW, the details of how you approach this differ according to company size, location, industry...)
