Forums

 Hi All,

New website / forum is certainly a big change. I can't say I'm 100% about it, but I'm sure I will get used to it!

I use the members iTunes link to get all my podcasts - I notice that the image has now changed to 'career tools'. Does this still include the Manager Tools podcasts?

I would rather two different feeds - Manager Tools & Career Tools!

gareth,

I'm not sure what you mean ... there are two separate feeds, one for Career Tools and one for Manager Tools.  For a short period of time, the new Career Tools casts are going in BOTH feeds as a way of introducing them to folks.

Could that be causing the confusion?

Mike

 Mike,

Thanks for clearing it up!

The 'old' manager tools feed has a new image stating 'career tools' which it must be picking up from the newest podcast.

EDIT:

As you can see - the 'old' manager tools members only link has doubled up!

Mike - there used to be a feed for all the comments to the blog posts, regardless of which post the comment was made to.  Does that still exist?  I can't see it as one of the new feeds listed?

I think I know what Gareth meant. The members only feed to Itunes is suddenly loading a duplicate of every cast. This was one of the issues raised in another post by me. A respondent thought that it was a one time glitch in the new system, and suggested to manually delete the old casts. As another wrinkle, iTunes asks me now 4 times to enter a username and password for these various feeds - in the first 3 the dialog box correctly has my username and password so it is easy to keep clicking OK. The last dialog box does not have any info, but after I enter my usual name and password, it does not recognize it. Perhaps another problem? Dialog box does not identify which feed it is for - could be either the new career tools feed or the new enhanced content feed. Help? Also, do you recommend I delete the non-enhanced casts in the members-only feed for which there is a corresponding enhanced cast? Thanks.

There is an issue with the feeds in that the generation of guids (that which uniquely identifies each cast) is now different. As such, iTunes thinks they are NEW shows and shows them as duplicates. The feed doesn't actually have duplicates in it, but iTunes (and other readers, I'm sure) shows them as such. It clearly shouldn't be and is a "bug". We're actively working on that. My recommendation is DON'T DO ANYTHING NOW — any time spent deleting them now will most likely be wasted. Please give us some time to address the issue. I'm sorry, I wish I had a better solution.

I don't understand the issue with the the dialog boxes. I would love to have a phone conversation to understand better. If you're willing, email me at michael AT manager-tools.com

Yes, there is no value in having the same podcast in both your lists. Unfortunately, we have to put the show in both because the enhanced podcast is not usable by all (it's an AAC file and not usable by standard MP3 players).
