 Hello

I recently led a meeting with my management team where I introduced a very unpopular policy. WE discussed the issue at length. There was objection to the new policy, I basically said sorry folks we will be implementing this policy. I proceeded to walk out of the meeting room.

The 7 managers stayed behind and had a further discussion on the policy. Should  I allow this kind of meeting to occur in the future?

regards

Practically speaking, you can't stop people from discussing something -- one way or another, communication will happen, regardless of the desires of those in charge.  You may as well let them get it off their chest.

On the other hand, it's perfectly reasonable to give feedback on the negative impact on the organisation created by sitting around jawing about a decision that has been made and isn't going to change.  A quick discussion about murdering the unchosen alternative (podcast part 1, part 2) might also be in order.
