Hi Mike and Mark, dear fellow Manager Tools Members,
I've introduced myself a while ago in the "member bios"-section. I'm a music producer and manager managing a team of 10 freelance music producers and songwriters. They are not employees of my company but freelance artists who are exclusively signed to me as their manager.
I've been successfully using pretty much everything that Manager Tools is teaching, however I'd like to ask whether there are things which you think I need to handle differently from a manager whose directs are employees of the company.
I'm sure some of you are working in similar setups - perhaps not in the entertainment industry, but e.g. in sales forces etc.?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,
Marc

Marc-

It's a great question. The nature of our tools are built BOTH around the traditional working relationship of manager and subordinate, AND the best information about motivating and inspiring high performance.

I would DEFINITELY still do one on ones, every week. That's just communication, with a professional appreciation for timeliness.

I would think about using the PEER model for feedback, because they DON'T work for you.

I'll continue to think about the details for you.

Mark
