Hi,

BLUF - What are the main takeaways I want my directs to have from the Feedback announcement meeting.

It is advised that the manager announce the feedback model to his directs before starting to use it (manager is new to team). And Mark & Mike suggest using the MT feedback slides for this meeting.

Fair enough. My question is, what is the purpose of this meeting?

I don't mean in a general sense – I mean what are the key points/takeaways that I want the directs to have at the end of the meeting?

Thanks for any advice!

Peter

Peter-

The purpose of the briefing is to increase the effectiveness of feedback by decreasing resistance through awareness of the model, its purpose and its process.

You want them to know you're going to start doing feedback, what it is (the four steps), why you're doing it (better performance) and allow questions, all of which lower resistance and increase acceptance.

Thanks Mike, that's perfect.

One other thought occurs to me–I assume I should not say that I will be starting with only "top performers". And should I say that it will initially be only positive?

Doh!

Sorry about that.

It's not really fair having a Mike & Mark though. Can I call you Bruce from now on? ;-)

And yes, you're right - we don't publicize that.

When we're talking to our directs about the Feedback model, do we use the document here: http://www.manager-tools.com/podcasts/Manager_Tools_Feedback_Model.pdf

Is that the one you mean? Or use the full deck from the podcast? That one contains information about top performers first, only positive first, etc. I assume from Mark's comment above that we don't want to share all that with the directs... Is that a correct assumption?

(Hoping to roll mine out on Friday and just making sure I have my "ducks in a row" per se right now...)

Thanks!!!

- Scott M.

I've been in my role since August, running the O3s successfully and now ready to start rolling out the feedback. I've read that there is a document to give out to give directs an overview of the feedback model, but can't find it - could anyone point me towards it please? (I have listened to the Rolling out the Trinity casts a couple of times and read the shownotes but for some reason am a bit apprehensive about announcing the feedback model - although it sounds perfect).

Just signed up for an individual licence, and it's good to be joinng the community here.

I am today looking for the same thing as Meifod......any feedback here (pun unintended) would be good :0

Hi all. I rolled out feedback a couple of weeks ago (the day after I attended the London EMC & ECC!). Meifod, please don't be worried about it - I totally understand why you are, but if your directs are anything like mine they are desperate to get feedback ;p

I put together a Powerpoint presentation using the MT slides, the shownotes, and some of my own thoughts. It seemed to go down very well and my directs do seem to understand what it is all about. I'd be very happy to share the presentation if it might help anyone. Just email me at carolynDOTgowenATgmailDOTcom.
